WOODLAND HILLS, CALIF. – The Los Angeles Rams have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with cornerback AHKELLO WITHERSPOON, the team announced today.
Witherspoon has appeared in 90 regular season games (62 starts) over his eight-year NFL career with the San Francisco 49ers (2017-20), Pittsburgh Steelers (2021-22) and Los Angeles Rams (2023-24). He has tallied 232 tackles (196 solo) along with 58 passes defended, 12 interceptions, six tackles for loss, two fumble recoveries, one forced fumble and one defensive touchdown. Witherspoon has also appeared in seven postseason contests (five starts), including Super Bowl LIV with the 49ers. He has played 210 snaps in the playoffs and registered 10 tackles (eight solo), one forced fumble, one tackle for loss, 1.0 sack and one quarterback hit.
The Sacramento, Calif., native was selected in the third round (66th overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft out of Colorado. He appeared in 28 games (21 starts) for the Buffaloes from 2014-16, where he recorded 58 tackles (52 solo), 12 passes defended, two interceptions and one forced fumble. He also finished tied for 13th on the program’s all-time pass breakup list with 28. As a senior in 2016, he earned Second-Team All-Pac-12 honors from the Associated Press after he led the nation in pass breakups and tied the single-season program record with 23. He also played one season at Sacramento City College and tied for third in the Mid-Empire Conference with three interceptions in eight games.
