Artwork for Farragut Connector Completes the Path – Culver City Crossroads

“The Speedway” public art mural is now complete at the Farragut Connector located between Jasmine Ave and Jackson Ave.

Created by world-renowned LA-based artist Sonia Romero, the piece is a whimsical and elegant homage to the surrounding neighborhood of Carlson Park. In the 1920s, it was home to two speedways; a thoroughbred racing track and later, the AAA Automotive Speedway. Romero’s composition, inspired by an aerial photograph of the locale, depicts historic elements.

With a community-involved selection of the artist, the piece was commissioned in conjunction with the Culver City Art in Public Places Program.

This marks the final piece of the Farragut Connector Replacement Project, providing a welcoming path for pedestrians and bicyclists.
