The Culver City Chamber of Commerce has announced its support for Measure CL, the Culver City Neighborhood Services and Community Safety Measure, which will appear on the ballot in the upcoming all-mail election. That election will end on August 26, 2025.
Measure CL proposes a quarter-cent local sales tax, that would generate approximately $5–6 million annually for Culver City‘s General Fund. These funds would help the city retain essential services that support the well-being of residents and the health of our local economy.
Specifically, Measure CL funding would support:
• Retaining firefighters, paramedics, and police officers to maintain fast and reliable emergency response
• Ongoing efforts to reduce homelessness and prevent encampments
• Citywide maintenance such as park and field improvements, pothole repairs, and storm drain maintenance
• Vital services for seniors and youth
• Other essential community needs
The Chamber recognizes that Measure CL represents a fiscally responsible, proactive step to protect local services before regional agencies like Los Angeles County or LA Metro implement broader sales tax increases that Culver City residents would be subject to without receiving direct local benefit. Both agencies have intonated that they would go after the additional quarter-cent sales tax capacity in the near future if Culver City does not.
“Measure CL is about keeping control local,” said Interim Chamber President/CEO Ed Wolkowitz, who spent eight years as a member of the Culver City Council. “It ensures that the sales tax dollars generated here are invested directly back into Culver City to pay for the services that matter most to our community and business environment.”
The Culver City Chamber of Commerce urges all local voters to participate in the mail-in election and vote YES on Measure CL to preserve public safety, maintain vital infrastructure, and keep Culver City strong.

The Chamber previously supported Measure Y, which created a half-cent sales tax increase, in 2012 and its extension, Measure CC, in 2020, based, in part, on them each having a sunset provision.
