The Culver City Police Department has made multiple arrests in the investigation of the August 4 shooting that occurred in the 4000 block of Sepulveda Boulevard.
In the early morning hours of Monday, August 4, 2025, at approximately 1:02 a.m., Culver City Police Department officers were dispatched to the 4000 block of Sepulveda Boulevard regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a female victim suffering from a gunshot wound to her left forearm. Officers immediately rendered aid, applying a tourniquet to control heavy bleeding until Culver City Fire Department personnel arrived. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The initial investigation revealed the victim had been approached by a group of suspects who attempted to steal her electric bicycle. When the victim resisted, she was shot. The suspects then fled the scene.
Culver City Police Department Investigators immediately launched an investigation and, with the assistance of the department’s Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) system, quickly identified the suspect vehicle and its driver.
The driver was identified as Navya Joy Mackey, a twenty-one-year-old female with no known residence. On August 6, 2025, a high-risk traffic stop was conducted, and Mackey was taken into custody without incident.
Detectives continued their relentless investigation, ultimately identifying the suspected shooter as Nya Cimone White, a twenty-five-year-old female resident of Los Angeles. After narrowing White’s location on August 14, 2025, Emergency Response Team (ERT) personnel, Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT), and Special Enforcement Team (SET) officers served a search and arrest warrant. White was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Culver City Police Department Jail for Attempted Murder (PC 664/187), with a two-million-dollar bail.
A search of the apartment yielded two assault rifles with high-capacity magazines, .40 caliber and 9mm ammunition, high-capacity pistol magazines, and approximately one kilogram of an off-white powdery substance believed to be cocaine.
This case was solved through the tireless work of our Culver City Police Department Patrol Team, Detectives, Crime Impact Team, Special Enforcement Team, K9 Unit, Emergency Response Team, Crisis Negotiation Team, and the collaborative efforts of the Pasadena Police Department and LA IMPACT personnel.
