KidScoop Reporter Queries Women’s Soccer Player

On June 7, I joined KidScoop Media to cover an Angel City FC vs Chicago Stars game. As someone who loves soccer, being in the press box was a very new experience especially because it was for a women’s soccer team. The match took place at BMO stadium near Downtown Los Angeles, the atmosphere was electric. Fans filled the stands in Angel City’s bold pink and black color, cheering loudly and waving flags. The view from the press box was beautiful, you could see the LA skyline, the beautiful buildings, lights and the sky overall was majestic. I was very observant the whole time, focusing on the action and the players. I made sure to take mental notes because I knew I had the press conference soon after. I saw two goals scored by Angel City FC which were excellent goals. Although they tied with the Chicago Stars it was an electric game. One thing that stood out to me was that this match was the new coach’s first game.

I had my questions ready for the press conference. I asked the players how it feels to have a new coach mid-season and I asked the coach how it felt coming into a new team mid-season as well. This was all very new to me. Sitting in a room full of professional reporters was a bit intimidating at first, but after asking the question and they giving a thoughtful answer I felt confident and proud. Afterwards, I began to realize that it really wasn’t so bad and it was just something new I had the opportunity to try. I’ll never forget this day. It was more than just watching a game. It was a new experience for me, something I’ve never done before and I enjoyed every second of it.
