Labor Day Protests @ City Hall Bring Out Hundreds – Culver City Crossroads

The organization May Day Strong hosted protest rallies on Monday, Sept. 1, 2025 in honor of Labor Day. With more than a dozen rallies in Los Angeles County, and hundreds across the nation, Culver City saw almost five hundred people gathered at the corner of Culver and Duquesne to protest the current federal administration.

“This is what democracy looks like,” was chanted by the crowd as passing drivers honked their approval. Flags flew –  the U.S., Mexico, the Untied Nations, Palestine and the LGBT+ colors floated above the crowd, to enthusiastic applause. Signs proclaiming the criminality of executive orders, support for immigrants, science and health care were waved at passing traffic.

Of course, Organized Labor was in evidence as well, with t-shirts introducing members of UTLA, SEIU,  and SAG-AFTRA  unions all participating in the protest.

After a judicial ruling declaring that posting the National Guard and the Marines in Los Angeles was an illegal violation of the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878, the District of Columbia is still seeing military troops posted in American streets.

Next Saturday, City Hall will be the site of another protest, “Keep Showing Up,” hosted by Indivisible, from 11 am to 12:30 pm.
