Free ice cream, roller-skating party hosts, and a beachside scavenger hunt are rolling onto the Westside coastline this weekend as Vermont’s favorite ice cream maker takes over the shore.
Ben & Jerry’s is bringing “The Great Summer Bar Drop” to Los Angeles from Friday, July 24, through Sunday, July 26, delivering thousands of free ice cream bars, limited-edition merchandise, and yard games to ice cream fans along the coast.
The three-day popup kicks off on Friday and Saturday at the Venice Beach Boardwalk near Windward Avenue. From noon to 6:00 p.m., a mobile “Bar-ty on wheels” will take over the seaside strip, featuring a squad of roller-skating brand ambassadors, giveaways, and plenty of new flavor offerings to help beachgoers beat the summer heat, just in time for the latest heatwave.
The festivities head north to the Santa Monica Pier on Sunday for the weekend’s main event: the “Hunt for the Golden Stick-et.” Between noon and 6:00 p.m., organizers will hide five oversized, golden-colored ice cream bar sticks around the pier grounds. Beachgoers who spot and retrieve one of the giant golden sticks will win a voucher package for a full year’s supply of free ice cream bars.
The pop-ups are open to all ages, non-ticketed, and entirely free to attend on a first-come, first-served basis.
