Pastor Mitchell Thomas Ross, 58 Dies in Culver City



Mitchell Thomas Ross, a loving father, “pops” and “grandpops,” big brother, , and loyal friend, passed away on May 22, 2025, in Culver City, California, at the age of 58. He will be incredibly missed by so many.

Born in Caldwell, Idaho, Mitchell lived a life marked by dedication, diverse passions, and a deep commitment to his faith and family. As a young adult, he bravely swam across the Salton Sea and even ran a newspaper, showcasing his adventurous and entrepreneurial spirit early on. He was also a practitioner of martial arts.

Mitchell dedicated many years to serving as a Christian pastor at the Bible Tabernacle church in Venice, California, guiding and inspiring his congregation with his faith. In his professional life, he devoted many years to the USC Information Sciences Institute. He loved his work and his coworkers.

Beyond his professional and spiritual pursuits, Mitchell had a vibrant array of interests. He enjoyed the arts, reading, and writing, and was a devoted fan of rock music. He also had a competitive streak, which he channeled into his love for sports, including fantasy football.

Mitchell was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Susan Jean Ross Helderman, and his brother, Jacob James Helderman.

He is survived by his devoted daughter, Alisha, and her husband, Armando; his loving son, Randall, and his wife, Valerie; and his cherished grandsons, Julian and Arthur, who brought immense joy to his life. He also leaves behind his sisters, Diane, Cheryll, Tamara, Tonya, and Renee; his brother, Loren; and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom he held dear.

Mitchell’s legacy of hard work, unwavering love, and enduring spirit will continue to inspire all who knew him.

His life was celebrated at a small gathering on July 12, 2025 in El Segundo, CA.
