Public Works Annual EnviroFest – May 3 – Culver City Crossroads



 Immerse yourself in a day bursting with eco-friendly adventures, and depart with newfound insights and awesome eco-swag. This spring, let’s turn sustainability into the season’s hottest trend! Join the Environmental Programs and Operations Division of Public Works in celebrating Arbor Day, Earth Day, and International Composting Week with Enviro-fest! Please join us at the Veterans Park and the Wende Museum and take part in all the activities!

From 9 am to 1 pm, there will be opportunities to participate in a a free gift of compost, mulch, fruit trees, and vegetable plants while supplies last. This is a self-haul event so bring a shovel – residents are responsible for shoveling and bagging their own compost in garbage bags, yard waste bags, reusable containers, pick-up bed, or trailer.

There will also be a collection of e-waste, household hazardous waste and paper shredding.

E-waste will be handled in a way that protects the planet, keeps your data safe, and creates jobs for people facing serious barriers to work. All hard drives and data storage devices will be destroyed according to NIST standards. Homeboy Recycling is a certified electronics recycler offering recycling, data destruction, asset recovery and repair services. Paper shredding is in compliance with HIPAA standards. The maximum paper shredding allowed will be six boxes with a maximum of the following dimensions: 18″ x 12″ x 10″. 

There will be a clothing swap with Forward La Mode; Bring clothes to swap with other community members!

And a Tree Tour ! Culver City has been designated a Tree City by Tree City USA. There are over 3,600 trees in the City! Receive an introduction and tour of the arboreal history of the trees in the area led by Stephanie Carrie. Meet a the EPO Info Booth at 11 am. 

AND – you can explore a Culver City Recycle Truck! All ages are welcome. Go to the EPO Info booth to get a passport. After you visit 5 booths, head over to Touch-a-Truck and show one of our EPO staff. They will show you around the truck and you can learn how it works!
