Sweet Wheat Bakery, a French-inspired cafe and bakery located in Redondo Beach, is getting ready to open a second location at 9341 Culver Blvd.
The boutique bakery is set to move into the former home of Kay ‘n Daves, (who closed due to pandemic problems) and the short-lived Shake Shack, (whose brief residency may have been clocked by the enormously popular In-n-Out Burger just a block away.) According to What Now Los Angeles, a recent liquor license application has been filed, but when co-owners Romain and Alexandre Lecat expect to open is still under wraps.
For those missing Sweet Lily, this could be your new go-to for real French pâtisserie. The Lecats trained at the esteemed l’École de Boulangerie et de Pâtisserie de Paris, so they have the background and the experience.
The Redondo location has a hospitable practice of offering first-time customers a free baguette; time will tell if the Lecat’s also offer that in Culver City. Their South Bay menu offers pastries, tarts, and quiche as well as panini, pizza and soup
Sweet Wheat will also offer French-imported drinks, including fruit nectars, Orangina, and espresso.
