BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
The Washington Place and Washington Boulevard Streetlight Improvement Project, PZ-684 will replace and upgrade the existing streetlight system, which has become obsolete and requires replacement for several reasons:
· It is on series circuit and is over 30 years old;
· It has lead wiring which tends to corrode; and,
· It runs on high voltage.
The limits of this project's streetlight improvements are as follows;
· Washington Place between Zanja Street and Centinela Avenue;
· Washington Boulevard between Centinela Avenue and Inglewood Boulevard; and,
· Washington Boulevard between Berryman Avenue and Sepulveda Boulevard
The scope of work will consist of replacing conduits, wiring, and removing and replacing existing non-standard streetlight poles with new 28-foot-high anti-graffiti coated concrete streetlight poles to include new fixtures with energy efficient 250 W Induction lamps and replacing fixtures with 400 W metal halide lamps with new fixtures and 250 W Induction lamps on existing 'Cobra-head' streetlights.
