RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that the Cultural Affairs Commission (CAC) consider the Culver City Unified School District’s (CCUSD) request to hold two meetings per month in the Mike Balkman Council Chambers.

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

Pursuant to City Council Policy No. 4008, the Council Chambers may be used as a meeting place or forum for other limited governmental purposes, including use by other public agencies concerning public matters as authorized by the City. Additionally, City Council Policy 3001 provides for a process by which the Council Chambers are made available for use.

Per a memorandum dated May 13, 2015, the CCUSD Superintendent is requesting use of the Council Chambers by the CCUSD Board for both of its regular monthly meetings (scheduled for the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at 7:00 p.m.). The CCUSD Board currently holds its regular meeting scheduled for the fourth Tuesday of each month in the Council Chambers.

The City Council has had ongoing discussions regarding this specific request with the CCUSD Board since November 2010; the CAC last considered a request from the CCUSD at its meeting on March 12, 2013 (Item A-2).

The Council Chambers are available the evening of the third Tuesday and the third Wednesday of each month should the CAC wish to consider changing the day of its regular meeting.

FISCAL ANALYSIS

Currently there are no anticipated direct costs associated with the prospective adjustment.
