RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends that the Parks, Recreation and Community Services (PRCS) Commission schedule a PRCS Commission tour of Culver City parks and facilities.

BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION

Each year, one or more members of the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department management staff accompany the PRCS Commission on a tour of Culver City parks and facilities.  The most recent Parks Tour was held on Saturday, September 13, 2014.  City Council members, the City Manager and Culver City School District representatives are usually invited to join the Commission on these tours.  On behalf of the Commission, staff will invite all of these parties again this year.  During a typical Parks Tour, staff engages in a dialogue with tour participants, takes them to sites of recent and upcoming capital improvement projects and provides information regarding a variety of issues relating to Culver City parks and facilities.

Staff will be available to accompany the Commission on a Parks Tour on either of the following dates:

                     Saturday, September 26, 2015

                     Saturday, October 3, 2015

Taking into consideration the input from the Commission at this evening’s meeting, the PRCS Director will develop a Parks Tour Itinerary and distribute it to the Commission before the Parks Tour begins.  Last year’s Parks Tour began at 9:00 a.m.; tours typically last approximately six hours or less.

FISCAL ANALYSIS

It is anticipated that a one-day Parks Tour will have a minimal impact on PRCS Department staffing and budgetary resources.

MOTION

That the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Commission:

Schedule a PRCS Commission tour of Culver City parks and facilities on Saturday, _________________, 2015.
