RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Cultural Affairs Foundation Board (Foundation Board): 1) Dissolve the Ad Hoc Culver City Chamber of Commerce; Ad Hoc Foundation Mission and Purpose; Ad Hoc 2013-2014 Fundraising Campaign and Events; Ad Hoc 2013-2014 Public Relations; and Ad Hoc 2013-2014 Veterans Memorial Auditorium Fundraising Subcommittees; 2) Create the Ad Hoc 2015/2016 Culver City Chamber of Commerce Subcommittee, Ad Hoc 2015/2016 Public Relations Subcommittee, and the Ad Hoc 2015/2016 Veterans Memorial Auditorium Fundraising Subcommittee; and 3) Assign Board Members to Subcommittees for Fiscal Year 2015/2016.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
The Cultural Affairs Foundation Board currently has currently five (5) ad hoc subcommittees whose work concluded at the end of Fiscal Year 2014/2015 (the 2013/2014 Fundraising Campaign and Events, the 2013/2014 Public Relations, and 2013/2014 Veterans Memorial Auditorium Fundraising subcommittees continued their work into Fiscal Year 2014/2015):
Ad Hoc
• Culver City Chamber of Commerce
• Foundation Mission and Purpose
• 2013/2014 Fundraising Campaign and Events
• 2013/2014 Public Relations
• 2013/2014 Veterans Memorial Auditorium Fundraising
Proposed Action No. 1 - Dissolution of 2013/2014 and 2014/2015 Ad Hoc Subcommittees
The existing subcommittees have concluded their work as specifically relates to the prior fiscal year (or in certain cases, the last two fiscal years).
Proposed Action No. 2 - Creation of Ad Hoc subcommittees for Fiscal Year 2015/2016
Based on discussion at the June 17, 2015 Foundation Board meeting and the specific scope of the Foundation Board’s fundraising efforts in the coming year, it is recommended that the following subcommittees be created for the current fiscal year:
Ad Hoc
• 2015/2016 Culver City Chamber of Commerce
• 2015/2016 Public Relations
• 2015/2016 Veterans Memorial Auditorium Fundraising
Proposed Action No. 3 - Appointments to Subcommittees
Should the Foundation Board so desire, it may appoint new Board members to its 2015/2016 ad hoc subcommittees. It is recommended that at least two Board members be appointed to each subcommittee.
FISCAL ANALYSIS:
Creation of subcommittees can involve the allocation of staff time.
