RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends the City Council (1) discuss the City Council conducting a City Council Strategic Planning Retreat; and (2) consider the creation of a related Ad Hoc Subcommittee and, if created, appointment of two City Council Members thereto; and (3) provide direction to the City Manager as deemed appropriate.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
Mayor Clarke, at the City Council meeting where he assumed the Office of Mayor, secured concurrence from the other City Council members to agendize discussion of the City Council conducting a City Council Strategic Planning Retreat.
Council Members may wish to consider the creation of an Ad Hoc Subcommittee for the purposes of working with staff from the City Manager’s Office to select a Retreat Consultant/Facilitator and/or make other recommendations to City Council at a later date. If the City Council determines to create this Ad Hoc Subcommittee, staff recommends it appoint two of its Members thereto.
FISCAL ANALYSIS
There is no fiscal impact to discuss a future City Council Retreat. There would eventually be costs associated with hiring a professional facilitator.
