RECOMMENDATION

Staff recommends the City Council conduct informational interviews with applicants to the various Culver City commissions, committees and boards.

BACKGROUND/ DISCUSSION

Each spring, the City opens the application period to fill openings on the City’s commissions, committees, and boards.

At the May 9, 2016 City Council meeting the City Council directed the City Manager to hold a special meeting on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at 7:00PM to provide an interview opportunity for applicants in preparation for consideration of appointments to the open positions at the Regular City Council meeting on June 13, 2016.

Interviews of candidates for the openings on commissions will occur between 7:00PM and 8:00PM after which interviews for all other bodies will occur.

Candidates have been requested to be prepared to answer one question as follows:

For first-time applicants: What do you understand the position to entail and what do you hope to accomplish as a commissioner or committee or board member?

For those seeking reappointment: What have you accomplished during your term and what do you hope to accomplish for the upcoming term?

Those unable to attend the May 31st meeting have been provided an opportunity to provide written responses which will be made available to City Council as correspondence received by 4:00PM on May 31, 2016.

Candidates will be allotted 3three minutes or less for the interview.
